Join us for our FREE summer Citizen Science at the Micro Forest series for students enrolling in 6th-9th grade in Fall 2023. Campers will learn about the effects of climate change and the important part native plants play in biodiversity. Campers will be collecting data for the Chicago Botanic Garden’s Project Bud Burst which will help scientists understand how climate change is affecting our region. This is a three-part series: June 2, July 7, August 11 from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Attendance at all three sessions is not required. Registration required.

· Learn all about fireflies
· Enjoy firefly crafts and activities
· Spread blankets out in the micro forest and each family will be given a record sheet to count the fireflies they see together. We will collect this data and submit it to the Audubon database.

When families engage in citizen science together it teaches little ones that science is a valuable activity and allows them to see themselves as scientists.

Firefly populations are shrinking. For this program, we will team up with the National Audubon Society to collect data that will help scientists learn about the geographic distribution of fireflies and what factors impact their numbers.

Stomp, chomp, and roar! Let’s party like a dinosaur! Join us for face painting, dinosaur themed crafts, games, and sensory stations. Dig for fossils! Who knows, maybe you’ll even spot a dinosaur while you’re here! Enjoy playing inside and outside the museum. $10 for members, $12 for nonmembers. Tickets needed for children only, over the age of one.

Join Camp Splish Splash at ECM! Be ready to get wet kids! We will have sensory bins with water beads, bubbles, and lots of different types of water play. This event is open to ages 6 and under with a caregiver.

Visit the Goshen Market in the parking lot of the Lewis & Clark campus in front of the Nickel Plate Station. Our train station will be open free to the public! Come enjoy train crafts, play with the train table, and serve pretend food from the dining car replica Nickel Plate train. The Nickel Plate is free to the public during this time! The main museum will still require paid admission.

The museum and Windland Education Center at the Nickel Plate Station will be open free of charge as we celebrate the grand opening of our Living Histories exhibit. Learn about passengers of the past who traveled through the station, play with the train table and replica train car, and enjoy train rides with your family and friends.
